Online Fitness Walking Class - Weeks 4 & 5

Week 4 & 5 –  Cardiovascular Endurance (2 weeks)

We started our fitness walking program and in our content we covered the key considerations for cardiovascular endurance.

Cardiovascular health is the most critical piece of the overall fitness puzzle.  Providing oxygen to working muscles is the key to enhancing endurance training as well as overall health and well-being.  As cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the leading cause of death in the United States, training for aerobic fitness and health is crucial.

Our content went on to cover the following areas in greater depth:

Physical Activity Guidelines for Active Adults
How Much Total Activity a Week?
How Many Days a Week and for How Long?
How Intense?
  Absolute intensity
  Relative intensity
Examples of Different Aerobic Physical Activities and Intensities
   Moderate Intensity
   Vigorous Intensity

We also had some videos on:

 Aerobic Type

Duration & Frequency

For our assignment we had to the following for each week:

1.  Start our workouts and log the information in our FitCheck Journal.
2.  The class was broken up into groups and we have a discussion board (in the online classroom) for motivating each other and accountability.

One of the common themes in our group discussion was motivation.  Just happen to notice a post on the Walk30 blog today sort of dealing with the same concept:
How to keep our fitness promises.
